Is Las Vegas – The Next Ibiza?

Can you say monopoly?

It’s been an all out battle of the open check books within the Las Vegas Nightlife community.  Almost five summers ago, Rain Nightclub took the leap of faith…..thank god, and signed one of the top DJ’s of the time, Paul Oakenfold to a year long residency at Rain Nightclub. It was just what Vegas needed, with a two year reign , get it Rain / Reign  other clubs through their Hat into the ring.  Marquee came out swinging with the first true all EDM nightclub with such ringers as Kaskade and Eric Morillo ( ho hum) and took top spot for EDM nightclub and soon the Rain dried up.  XS, Surrender, Encore Beach club and yeah Tyrst is there somewhere all on Steve Wynn property wasn’t going to sit around idle, teamed up with the Guru Steve Wynn himself,  and I’m thinking the gobs of money and G5 handed over to Country superstar Garth Brooks wasn’t drawing the big money gamblers Mr Wynn expected… I don’t know… for a man who’s top hit single is “Friends in low places” perhaps that could of been a hint right there that Garths fans would rather drink $.75 coronas at “Slots-o-fun ” down the street then pony up for a $250 dinner at Wazazu haha ok whatever… sio Steve Wynn has inevitably won the “who’s got the biggest dick” contest by signing 34 of the worlds TOP EDM DJ’s last week as resident DJ’s to one or all of the venues on Wynn Property. Holy Shitbags Batman… So, yes tables, daybeds and Cabanas are going to be the top source of paying for these DJ’s so plan to take out a second mortgage.   We all know that EDM has taken over the dance music scene,  does signing 34 of the top DJ’s so other venues can’t sign them negatively effect the scene?  Who’s knows….. let’s just hope this EDM wave lasts for more than a minute…i don’t think I can handle hearing “soldia boy” in a club environment again… my Sanity relies on it.

Here’s the list of Wynn’s 34 resident DJ’s for 2012.

Amongst all the names taking over the Vegas strip this year are the rising DJs that are playing alongside the big names. I know that EC Twins recently started taking over TAO and Marquee..I’m excited to see what these guys will be doing to compete with the big name superstars in their venues. Check out their chops:
